Cold & Flu Massage Blend - Massage Blend

Feeling full of Flu?

The flu, or influenza, is a viral disease of the respiratory tract (the nose, throat, bronchial tubes and lungs) and is said to be contagious.
The symptoms of a cold are a stuffed-up, runny nose and sneezing, a sore throat, and often a dry cough. Lymph glands along the neck become swollen and tender as a result.
Colds affect different people differently, but if a head cold persists then the possibility of allergies should be investigated.
Flu is much more severe than a cold, but tends to exhibit similar symptoms. Flu causes high fever and chills and a feelings of total exhaustion, as the whole body aches, the head hurts, the back aches and muscles are sore.

How to boost your immunity

A healthy immune system will resist the most virulent of colds and flu with ease, however individuals with a lot of stress and impoverished health will be more susceptible to recurring colds and flu.
You can improve your immune system by eating a healthy diet, exercising regularly, and drinking plenty of water and/or lemon and mint tisanes.

Regular massage has been proven to stimulate the flow of Lymph fluid. The lymph system is a network of organs, lymph nodes, lymph ducts, and lymph vessels that produce and transport lymph fluid from tissues to the bloodstream.

What Does Lymph Fluid Do?

Firstly, lymph completes the circulation of the blood. As the blood vessels get tinier and tinier, components of the blood are squeezed out through tiny gaps. This fluid - called tissue fluid - carries nourishment with it to every cell.
Once the tissue fluid has passed on its nourishment, the lymph vessels help to collect it up again. The fluid now also contains waste products passed into it from the cells, such as dissolved carbon dioxide.
The lymph vessels then direct the tissue fluid back towards the blood circulation system again. The waste products are removed from it, mainly in the kidneys and liver.
Secondly, the lymph fluid has a vital task in transporting white blood cells around the body. White blood cells are the major component of our IMMUNE system. They are rushed immediately to any area of damage or inflammation in the body. They fight off invading 'pathogens' (bugs); and repair or recycle damaged body cells coming to the end of their life cycle.
